A Modern Makeover for a Software Consultant

Project Scope: Brand strategy + refresh, copywriting, website design

Client Overview

Fiona of Gadsby Technologies is at the top of her field in helping large businesses with Oracle licensing compliance saving them a lot of money. She needed a new, modern look that reflected her positioning and credibility.

Both her brand and website were overdue for a makeover. It’s common with small businesses to put this off because they’re busy. But with everyone looking companies up online now — and half of that traffic now on mobile — it’s important for your reputation to not look like an internet dinosaur.

The Brand

First, we gave her logo a refresh, starting with more modern fonts. Then did a mood board to show the look and feel of the brand. Paths, success, speed, luxury. This ensures we’re on the same page, design-wise, before the website build.

The Website

Her new Squarespace website is a one-page scrolling site with a sub page to elaborate on her services. She didn't need a large, brochure site because her business is all run offline and her leads are mainly referrals. Fiona needed a professional-looking site where her corporate clients can learn the highlights — the results she delivers, how she helps, who she is, and book a consultation.

The #1 goal is to get leads on the phone. For high-end services, the sale isn’t made on the site. You need a sales call. She was able to get this done quickly by doing a smaller website.

Portraits

Fiona was very hesitant to put a photo of herself on the site, which is a common sentiment. But it’s important to create a connection to your audience. Your face and eye contact will help create that connection and build trust much more quickly. She was able to go to a photo studio near her office. She brought a couple of outfits along with her and used backgrounds from her brand colour palette.
